Unraveled Absurdly Comprehensive Game Lore Featured

Polygon Unraveled With Brian David Gilbert Is Comedy Gold

Earlier this week, we wrote about how Girlfriends Reviews is the best YouTube channel related to gaming. I still stand by that, but their strongest contender comes in the form of Brian David Gilbert’s Unraveled videos for Polygon. While Girlfriend Reviews is a great way to laugh a lot while also learning about games you might want to play with your significant other, Brian David Gilbert’s Unraveled videos for Polygon are just a great way to laugh a lot.

Pure Lunacy

In each Unraveled video, you get to watch Brian David Gilbert (who has a true comedic talent) descend into madness over some completely inconsequential thing related to video games. Whether you’re looking for an entirely unnecessary deep dive into Bowser’s military hierarchy, the Sonic series’ adherence to its own religious principles, or a trip through the cuisine of Hyrule, Brian David Gilbert has your back. I started by poking around in videos about games I was very familiar with, but honestly this guy is funny enough that all of his videos are worth watching, as long as you’re familiar with gaming in general.

Great Videos About Nintendo Games

While Brian David Gilbert dips his toes into other games like Skyrim, Mortal Kombat, and Mega Man, most of his videos seem to be inspired by Nintendo games. People who grew up with franchises like Mario (which of course has the deepest lore of any game out there), Zelda, and Pokémon will feel right at home. For example, for my wife (whose favorite game series of all time is probably Zelda), his video about solving the Zelda timeline was both entertaining and a nostalgic trip through good memories.

Medium Length, Well-paced Videos

Most Polygon Unraveled videos clock in at about 15 minutes to half an hour. This is the perfect length for a video, and all YouTube videos should fit in here. They’re long enough to entertain you without you having to constantly pick a new video, but they’re short enough that you don’t have to take breaks in the middle to catch your breath. They’re also right in that sweet spot where you can either watch one video here and there, or you can watch about 10 at a time without noticing the clock.

Brian David Gilbert Is A Treasure

Anyways, at the end of the day I just wanted to put a spotlight on one of the funniest game video creators out there: Brian David Gilbert. Polygon is lucky to have him, and so are we. Go check out his Unraveled videos if you need some entertainment, you won’t regret it. Happy watching!
