In this YouTube era of gaming where it seems like everyone who plays games is also a streamer, it can be hard to find good channels (especially since YouTube is constantly recommending alt-right channels after innocent gaming videos). As an unrelated issue, it can also be hard to find games that are enjoyable for both you and your significant other. Well, the channel I want to talk about today solves both of those problems.
Girlfriend Reviews Is The Best YouTube Gaming Channel
Girlfriend Reviews started with a tale as old as time: a woman (Shelby) being forced to watch her boyfriend (Matt) play games. However, she had the idea to bring that experience (and her killer editing skills) to the gaming world in the form of hilarious videos that also actually tell you about the game in question. A typical Girlfriend Reviews video of a game is about 5-15 minutes long, and in addition to being entertaining it also gives you a good, spoiler-free idea of whether or not that game is for you (whether you plan on playing it yourself or watching your significant other play it). It’s also fun to watch reviews for games you’ve already played and relive the good and bad times you had with each game.
Find Games To Play With Your Significant Other
While the Girlfriend Reviews videos are hilarious, they can also give you ideas for games to play with your partner. For example, the Gears 5 video explains how the game can accommodate an experienced Gears player and a less-experienced Gears player at the same time. In that video, Shelby also talks about how the game had beautiful atmospheric set pieces under the initially off-putting over-the-top violence.
This is another aspect of Girlfriend Reviews that my wife likes in particular, because many games still mostly market themselves toward adolescent males. For example, she did not think she would like Divinity: Original Sin 2 at first because of the imagery in the loading screens, but after putting dozens of hours into the game she discovered a love for sprawling CRPGs like it. Since people should not have to buy and play a game to discover whether it’s “secretly” for them after all, Girlfriend Reviews is a great resource to learn more about a game you have your eye on.
