Dragon Quest Builders Best Game Similar To Minecraft

Three Of The Best Games Similar To Minecraft

If you want to play a game similar to Minecraft without actually playing Minecraft, you have hundreds or even thousands of options. You could play a 2D Minecraft like Terraria, a space 2D Minecraft like Starbound, or even an ASCII Minecraft like Dwarf Fortress (which actually predates Minecraft and is a far deeper game in general). In other words, there is no shortage of Minecraft alternatives out there. This is great for people who are looking for a new game, but it can be hard to know where to start. That’s where My Dpad comes in. Here are three of the best games similar to Minecraft that are out there, with one for PC, one for mobile and PC, and one for the PS4 and PS Vita.

Lego Worlds

Lego Worlds is one of the great games you can play with your girlfriend that we’ve highlighted before on My Dpad. It’s the game on this list most similar to Minecraft, with the main difference being that instead of using earthy blocks, you’re using Legos (surprise, surprise). Lego Worlds works very similarly to Minecraft, but might be more intuitive if you’ve ever used Legos in your life. Lego Worlds is currently $29.99 on Steam.

Junk Jack

Like Lego Worlds, Junk Jack is another game we previously highlighted in that same article as above. Junk Jack might be more accurately referred to as a Terraria clone rather than a Minecraft ripoff, but whatever. While Junk Jack has a PC version, you should play it on mobile if you’ve been looking for a great premium mobile game to play, since Junk Jack was built for the ground up for the smartphone rather than being shoddily ported after development.

Dragon Quest Builders

Finally, the last game I want to highlight is my favorite game on this list, and one of my favorite PS Vita games of all time. Dragon Quest Builders is what you get when you mix Minecraft with Dragon Quest and add in just a sprinkle of Harvest Moon at the end. Dragon Quest Builders is a story-driven game where most of the building is building around an old town rather than just building wherever you want. This is because it’s an RPG first and foremost, but it’s like an RPG transplanted into Minecraft, because the entire world is destructible and you can build wherever you want.

Dragon Quest Builders is a must-play for Minecraft fans, Dragon Quest fans, or PlayStation users (especially PS Vita players) who are just looking for a great game. You can buy Dragon Quest Builder right now for $39.99 for the PS4 and $23.99 for the PS Vita until September 19th, since they’re on sale. The games usually $59.99 and $39.99 for the PS4 and PS Vita, respectively, but luckily they each have demos so you can try them out. If the sale is over, you can try Amazon for a deal too. You can’t transfer your base from the demo to the game, though, so know that now before you spend too much time in the demo.

If you’re looking for an alternative game to play instead of Minecraft but you don’t just want to play a cheap ripoff, one of those games should fulfill your craving. They’re all great, but if you have the money (and a PlayStation console), I highly recommend Dragon Quest Builders. Happy crafting!
