Junk Jack Video Games You Can Play With Your Girlfriend

5 Video Games You Can Play With Your Girlfriend

If you’re in a relationship (especially a long-distance one), you’re probably constantly looking for great video games you can play with your girlfriend (or boyfriend or partner, I just had to say girlfriend for SEO, you get it). Sometimes, your partner just doesn’t like playing one of your favorite games with you, and other times you just don’t understand your partner’s taste in games. Finding a game for yourself is hard enough, so it can feel nearly impossible to find a game that fits two people’s tastes. Luckily, My Dpad is here to help. Here are some great video games for couples, from Steam games to (cross-platform) mobile games.

Junk Jack

Junk Jack is seriously the best possible mobile game you can play as a couple with your girlfriend/boyfriend/partner. At its core, Junk Jack is a Terraria clone (which is itself a 2D Minecraft interpretation), but it was built for the ground up for smartphones. Junk Jack is the best video game for couples because of the variety of gameplay it offers. If your partner likes mining and you like crafting, you can do that. If you like mining and your partner likes gardening, you can do that. If you want to just raise animals while your partner finds new planets to explore, you can even do that. Junk Jack costs $5 (so it’s a $10 commitment to play with your partner), but it is seriously worth every single penny.

Tabletop Simulator

Tabletop Simulator is a Steam game that can play basically any board game you want it to. You can either customize your own game room complete with table, cards, poker chips, dice, and anything else you want, or you can download mods from the Steam workshop. These mods can be original board games or they can be Tabletop Simulator ports of your favorite board games like The Game of LIFE and Monopoly. Since there’s a board game out there for just about everything, Tabletop Simulator is a great video game to play as a couple. Tabletop Simulator is $20 as of this writing with most mods being free, and you only need one copy to play if you’re in the same room.

Lego Worlds

Like Junk Jack, Lego Worlds starts by basically ripping off of Minecraft. Also like Junk Jack, Lego Worlds does enough to differentiate itself that it feels like anything but a cash grab. You can either build your own structures Minecraft-style, or you can unlock and build pre-made structures like castles. If you don’t particularly like building, you can run around exploring new lands and discovering new animals/enemies/allies, collecting gems along the way so that your partner can build. Lego Worlds is $30 as of this writing, but you can play splitscreen with your partner so you only need one copy.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

I know, I know, but hear me out: Counter-Strike: Global Offensive can be a great game to play with your significant other, particularly if you already have a bunch of friends who play. Actually, only try this if you have a bunch of friends you can queue with, because the CS:GO community can be toxic, misogynistic, and just discouraging (like most online gaming communities can be at their worst). If you do have a team of friends to play with though you can help your partner learn the game in no-pressure situations, and eventually you’ll be protecting hostages and planting bombs as a duo. Once you’re both playing you can even buy each other Stattrak versions of your favorite guns, so it can get really cute. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is $15 as of this writing, so it would cost $30 to get a copy for each of you.

Pictionary

Finally, if you want an oldie but goodie, you can play Pictionary (the app) with your girlfriend/boyfriend/significant other. The app is courtesy of the same developers as Trivia Crack, so it has the same attractive look and solid feel. This is an excellent mobile game for couples because it’s a blast to play whether you’re in the same room or in different parts of the world. The game’s also as simple as can be (it’s basically just digitized Pictionary, much like Draw Something is), so even non-video gaming enthusiasts can find something to love here. Pictionary is free, so it’s a great choice for a free mobile game to play with your partner.

Between those five games there’s got to be something you can play together as a couple. Again, even though it costs $5 ($10 for two copies), I highly, highly recommend giving Junk Jack a try. That is, unless you don’t like the idea of building an enormous castle with your significant other, complete with portals to other worlds and treasures you’ve found in those worlds, in which case you’re on the wrong website. If you have any other ideas for great video games to play with your girlfriend/boyfriend/partner, go ahead and leave them in the comments!
