Any great MMO/game of any type needs pets. Guild Wars 2 gives you its version of pets in the form of minis (mounts are a whole other thing, in my opinion). However, if you’ve recently started playing, you might have run into the same problem I did and come up with the same question I did, which was, how do I “permanently” equip/show my mini so that it doesn’t disappear every time I teleport or enter a new map?
I saw posts on Reddit suggesting that the show/hide button in your wardrobe was supposed to work, but I just couldn’t get it to work for me, or to even make a difference.
Well, I figured out how to actually make the mini visibility work as designed, and it’s pretty easy.
Permanently Equip/Show Mini from your Wardrobe, not Inventory
The key is that you actually have to add your mini to your wardrobe, not just have it in your inventory, and then the “show/hide mini” button in your wardrobe will actually work. If you just double-click your mini in your inventory, it will show up in the world next to your character, but it will disappear every time you change maps or teleport, so you’ll constantly have to be double-clicking it from your inventory. Moreover, the show/hide mini button in your wardrobe probably won’t do anything.
This Method will Make the Mini Functionality Work as Intended
First, from your inventory, right-click on the mini you want to add to your wardrobe (actually, you might as well do this with every unique mini you get), and then select “Add to Wardrobe” or whatever the button is. Then, from the ‘Miniatures’ section of your wardrobe, you can equip the mini in that box on the top-left of your character preview (either by dragging it right onto the box or through right-clicking and picking the appropriate selection). From there, you can click the checkbox to permanently show your mini, and this time it will actually work!
There are apparently some times that ArenaNet will make your mini invisible (such as in particularly crowded areas where it might add a confusing visual stimulus), but otherwise your mini shouldn’t disappear any more. This means you can finally focus on questing, your personal story, and winning renown hearts, rather than having to spend all your time double-clicking on your mini or looking around to see if it’s even spawned. Happy playing!
