If you’re a fan of mobile games, you’ve probably looked around for a great, free, MMORPG you can play on your smartphone. I know I have. I’ve played them all: Order & Chaos, Rucoy Online, Mirage Realms, and plenty of others, with varying degrees of success. Most mobile MMORPGs fail in one of two ways. They either try to do to much graphically with the platform and deliver an unplayable game, or they recognize the limitations of the platform but don’t make it clear where the action is.
For example, some mobile MMORPGs seem promising at first, until you realize you don’t know what you’re supposed to do besides wander around and occasionally fight. Others give you a lot to do, but also try to make the game look too good and then you’re just playing a watered-down, glitchy version of a PC MMORPG. Bit Heroes is the best free mobile MMORPG because it avoids both of these pitfalls. This is unsurprising since it comes from the good people at Kongregate, which along with Adult Swim has become one of my go-to mobile game publishers.
Built For Smartphone From The Ground Up
As you can see, Bit Heroes takes a great approach to its graphics by serving up visuals that any smartphone can handle while still looking pretty good. No matter how old your phone is, you’ll be able to run Bit Heroes, no problem. The battles are turn-based, too, so even if your phone is lagging your character won’t suffer.
Anyways, the main action in the game is dungeon-crawling based. These dungeons contain gold, chests, monsters, and boss battles, with boss battle completion being the only thing you need before you can move on (but if you’re like me you’ll clear every dungeon you can). There’s also a main town area where you can do all sorts of things, including buying gear, finding missions, exchanging extra gear and items for crafting elements, and much more.
Bit Heroes Monsters
At the end of the day, though, my favorite part of Bit Heroes is the party system. The way the party system works is basically a monster catching system, but it works more like Dragon Quest V than it does like Pokemon or Digimon, in that you can only add a monster to your party when they ask to join your party, which happens randomly.
Anyways, if you like PVE, PVP, crafting, exploring, dungeon crawling, making new friends, and silly retro graphics, Bit Heroes might just be the game for you. It’s free to download, so you don’t have anything to lose. I’ve been playing it for a few hours and haven’t had to spend any money, and I’ve been doing alright for myself. If you want to play a free mobile MMORPG that you can sink hours into whether you’re playing by yourself or playing with your friends, Bit Heroes is the game for you.
