Assassin's Creed Origins Discovery Tour Evisceration

Assassin’s Creed Origins Will Have Bloodless Discovery Tour

Assassin’s Creed Origins, the next chapter from one of console gaming’s biggest franchises, is set to come out in just around a month, on October 27th. A free update that is expected to come out sometime next year will include a bloodless “Discovery Tour” mode, and that’s what I’m here to tell you about. With a free patch, Ubisoft will turn Assassin’s Creed into a choice between a combat-focused game and a non-combat educational tour.

All Ages, Kid-Friendly Educational Assassin’s Creed

The Discovery Tour mode will take out all the combat from the game, leaving players with less of a game and more of an educational experience. This bloodless mode can be great for teachers and parents who want to get video-game-loving kids into history, or even just a way for cunning kids to trick their parents into buying them the latest Assassin’s Creed game. Either way, it looks like it’ll be a great way to learn about ancient Egypt.

First of all, this is a cool move since it will get more kids into education, and can even help education-minded kids get into video games. It’s especially cool, though, since it will force the makers of Assassin’s Creed Origins to be even more historically accurate than they usually try to be. Even though the Assassin’s Creed writers and developers already pride themselves on diversity and inclusion, this mode will make them put these values front-and-center, rather than just include historical facts as color.

Great Video Game Tool For Teachers

Since this is such a big game development company and since this is one of the biggest video game franchises around, this is surely one of the most exciting developments ever when it comes to historical, educational video games. Sure, the studio behind Variant: Limits has released part one of a series focusing on the renaissance, but this is Ubisoft we’re talking about. The most exciting thing that could happen for parents, teachers, and anyone else interested in educational video games would be other game studios following suit and allowing players to turn off the violence and turn on the knowledge.

Now just to be clear, Assassin’s Creed Origins will not ship with Discovery Tour mode, so there is no need to rush to buy it right when it comes out if all you want is the educational mode. For that, you’ll have to wait until sometime next year. Keep checking back here at My Dpad and we’ll keep you updated and informed.
