If you’re like me (a mobile game nerd, that is), you basically live at the Google Play Store (or the App Store, if you’re a rich guy). If you don’t, though, I’ve come back with the latest dispatches. These are the coolest-looking upcoming games that you’ll soon be able to play on your smartphone (or at least your Android), with every one of them being part of an established series (video game or otherwise). By the way, they’re in alphabetical order, so don’t get mad at me if your favorite one isn’t listed first.
Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery
First up, we have this Harry Potter game which looks to be some sort of mystery RPG. Interestingly, it’s set before Harry Potter’s own story, so it might even explore some of the darker, dustier parts of Hogwarts that we only got glimpses of in the books/movies. The information available on Google Play is pretty vague, but it looks like it’ll be a magic-based mystery RPG with magic battles making up most of the gameplay. The graphics look like a Sims game, though, so it might be a bit more social than that. We’ll see, but it’s sure to be a hit among Harry Potter fans whether or not it ends up being any good.

Might and Magic: Elemental Guardians
Up next is Might and Magic: Elemental Guardians, a “fast-paced strategy RPG based on the medieval fantasy realm of Might & Magic“. It looks like your typical character-collecting mobile action game, but obviously targeted towards fans of the Might & Magic series. If this game does draw fans of that series, though, it might make for a pretty competitive PvP pool. Anyways, if you pre-register you get a free character, so go check it out if you’re into that.

MLB Tap Sports Baseball 2018
For the sports fans out there, the next upcoming game is the newest Tap Sports Baseball game, although you’d be forgiven for thinking it was the same as last year’s considering Kris Bryant’s still on the cover. As a Cubs fan, I’m not complaining. Anyways, in true sports game fashion, this looks like another roster update and not much else. That’s not a terrible thing, though, because MLB Tap Sports Baseball 2017 was a pretty solid baseball simulator. Anyways, the season’s about to start, so get ready to ease your baseball fix when the 2018 version comes out.

Star Wars: Rivals
Now this one I’m actually pretty excited about. It’s a competitive third-person shooter (first-person would be cooler, but oh well), and it’s set in the Star Wars universe. If the words “Mobile multiplayer Star Wars shooter” aren’t enough to set you off running to the Google Play store to pre-register, nothing else that I can say will be. If you’re one of the 10 billion Star Wars nerds out there, go on ahead.

Westworld
Finally, there’s a Westworld game coming out, based on the hit HBO series (sorry, fans of the original movie). From the preview screenshots available, it seems to be a mix between a base-building game like Clash of Clans or The Simpsons: Tapped Out, Fallout Shelter, and story segments like the ones in Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow. It looks promising for the sheer amount of features it looks to have, if nothing else. It’ll probably come out just before the season 2 opener (April 22nd), so mark your calendar in that general area.
No matter what type of mobile game you like, one of these five upcoming ones should be right up your alley. All of these are licensed titles or parts of a series, but sometimes that familiarity can be exactly what takes a mobile game from good to great for me. I hope one of these looks solid, and if you’re excited about something not on this list go ahead and drop a comment.
