Jurassic World Alive

Will Jurassic World Alive Be A Hit Like Pokémon Go?

In case you haven’t heard, there are a bunch of licensed games set for release soon on mobile. There are so many, in fact, that I couldn’t fit them all in that one post. One of the games I left out is an offering from the world of Jurassic Park, set to be called Jurassic World Alive.

Jurassic Park(/World) Mixed With Pokémon Go

Jurassic World Alive looks like it’s basically Pokémon Go, but with Jurassic Park dinosaurs instead of Pokémon. Yeah, that’s pretty much it. That’s not to say it won’t be successful, though, because that might be a great strategy.

Jurassic World Explore and Collect

“Might” is the key word there. See, if people loved Pokémon Go because it was a cool augmented reality game based around real world exploration, then Jurassic World Alive will be a monster hit as well. If, on the other hand, people loved Pokémon Go because it was, you know, a free Pokémon game for their smartphones, then Jurassic World Alive won’t necessarily be a success. If nothing else, this will be a good measuring stick for AR-based smartphone games beyond Pokémon Go.

As for the game itself, it looks cool enough. Rather than trying to kill these dinosaurs or something, you play a member of the “Dinosaur Protection Group” trying to track them and collect their DNA. From their, you can create your own dinosaurs, and eventually use them to battle other dinosaurs. Sounds pretty cool on its face.

A Game To Get You Fit

While Pokémon Go wasn’t exactly up my alley, I’m all for these types of games. Any game that encourages healthy habits (like walking around your neighborhood) is worth a shot in my book. I also think they went a good direction with this, because tracking and collecting dinosaur DNA is pretty cool.

Jurassic World Infinite Runner?

On the other hand, imagine an AR Jurassic World game where you’re just constantly being chased by dinosaurs, and your smartphone acts as a sort of mirror to show you the snarling, horrible teeth of the dinosaur right on your tail. Now that would help people get fit. Until then, though, Jurassic World Alive will just have to do. Once it comes out, we might give it a try here at My Dpad and report back, so make sure to keep an eye out right here.
