The Moto G7 Is The Perfect Budget Gaming Phone

These days, a lot of people think that the smartphone debate is between Apple (iOS) and Samsung (Android). Since the most expensive flagship phones from both of these brands will run you about $1,000, a lot of people have started holding on to their old phones longer. If you’re devoted to iOS, this is pretty much your only option, but if you like Android (or are willing to switch), there’s plenty of options to choose from beyond Samsung. I’m not talking about cheap knockoff companies either, I’m talking about respected companies like Motorola.

Motorola Leads The Pack On Budget Smartphones

Motorola, who has been making cell phones and smartphones for a long time, is currently the king of budget smartphones. In fact, they currently have a “Good Call” sale going on right now. If you’re looking for a great, reliable smartphone on the cheap, it’s hard to beat this sale.

The reason they’re having this sale is because they’ve just released a new line of phones, so those on sale have now become outdated (though still great options). The new phones are consistent with Motorola’s recent vision of being the affordable alternative to Samsung for Android phones. The one I want to bring to your attention today, though, is the Moto G7.

Moto G7: A Great Android Phone For $300

If you’re in the market for a new phone but don’t want to spend $1,000 or even $500, the Moto G7 is your dream come true. The specs of the Moto G7 are as follows:

  • 6.2″ screen, 1080×2270 resolution
  • 12 MP/5 MP dual back camera, 8 MP front camera
  • 3,000 mAh battery
  • 64 GB storage
  • 4 GB RAM
  • Android 9.0 (Pie) out of the box
  • Snapdragon 632 CPU, 4×1.8 GHz + 4×1.8 GHz
  • Adreno 506 GPU
  • 3.5mm jack

Altogether, that adds up to an Android smartphone that should handle any game you want to throw at it, and it’s almost hard to believe it only costs $300. Either Motorola has mastered some form of alchemy, or the other phone companies are ripping you off. Either way, mobile gamers like us are the clear winner.

Is $300 Still Too Expensive?

If you don’t quite have $300 lying around, but you do have $200 or $250, you can still get the Moto G7 Play or Moto G7 Power, respectively. The $200 Moto G7 Play limits you to a slightly smaller screen, 32 GB of storage, and 2 GB of RAM, but it ships with Android 9.0 out of the box, making it hard to beat at that price point. Meanwhile, the $250 Moto G7 Power also limits you to 32 GB of storage and 3 GB of RAM, but it has the same size screen and comes with a whopping 5,000 mAh battery for all-day gaming sessions. In other words, these are excellent options for kids, people on a budget, or people who don’t need the most expensive smartphone out there.

If you want to live large though, I’d say go for the $300 Moto G7. That extra GB of RAM should come in handy for gaming, and $50 isn’t too much of a premium. Happy gaming, and thank you Motorola for keeping the sub-$500 smartphone market thriving.
