Hey, you.
Yeah, you.
Got a comb?
If you do, you’re on your way to breaking out of this place. You look confused. Let me start over.
Escape From Prison In The Escapists
If you have a smartphone in your pocket right now, you have an alter-ego in prison. Sure, the charges might be trumped up, but your little guy is still slaving away in prison day-after-day. The only way to get him out is to download The Escapists for your smartphone.
The Escapists is a premium (read: pay once and play forever) prison simulation game/RPG. It might remind you of Prison Architect, but instead of being the warden you’re just another inmate. Fortunately, the joint you’re in is minimum security, so you can break out of the first prison pretty easily.
Of course, that only buys you a little bit of time, because you’ll be promptly caught and sent to a prison with more security, which is where the fun starts.
Escape From Prison A Bunch Of Times
In The Escapists, escaping from prison is almost like ascending in an inflation game (which The Escapists is definitively not, I should add), because you get to start over again with a new, more challenging prison. You might escape right away in an early prison using a fairly simple strategy, only to find that that strategy is not feasible in your next prison. For example, maybe you escaped through the first prison’s duct system, only to find that your next prison does not have any duct system, since each cell is separate from the rest.
Aside from being realistic (I mean, if someone escaped prison like that in real life they probably wouldn’t just give them that same exact opportunity again), this keeps The Escapists fresh and fun to play. There are several ways to escape each prison, as well, so The Escapists has plenty of replayability. This is just one of those things that makes the game well worth its price tag.
How Do You Escape Prison In The Escapists?
So how do you actually break out of these prisons? Well, first of all, you have to blend in as any old prisoner, so that the guards don’t become suspicious. This means following the same prison routine as everyone else (or at least not letting the guards know you’re not following the routine). Once you’ve settled into the routine, you can start gathering materials through bartering (there are always a few simple item-based quests) by carrying a big stick (that is, beating up your fellow prisoners, or guards if you’re feeling frisky), or even by stealing from your fellow inmates’ cells.
Once you’ve gathered materials, you can start making your necessary plans. This might include making a dummy of yourself to put in your bed, or making a screwdriver to start unscrewing vents, or even making weapons. I can’t say too much more without spoiling the fun of the game, so just give The Escapists a try. It costs $2.99 as of the time of this writing, and it’s worth every penny.
