Here at My Dpad, we originally wrote about Game Dev Tycoon as a PC game. However, its one of those rare games that I have actually come to love even more as a mobile game. Therefore, we have since written about it in quite a few compilations. It’s time to specifically highlight it on its own, though. If you want a premium mobile game that doesn’t cut any corners, give Game Dev Tycoon a try.
Make Your Own Games
In Game Dev Tycoon, as the name implies, you make your own games. You start as a single developer in your garage in the ’80s, and as you make more money you can move into bigger offices, hire staff, and make bigger games. You can eventually do contract work for other developers, invest in research and development, and even get to the point of making your own console. In other words, this is the best game development simulation game around, and you can play it on your phone.
Explore Gaming History
While the gameplay is great on its own, Game Dev Tycoon is also an homage to gaming history. You start in the 1980s, but you can work your way up through all of the console generations to present day. Eventually, new consoles stop coming out, but you can still play to your heart’s content. Game Dev Tycoon is a nice nostalgic walk through memory lane, and knowing about the history of gaming can also give you an edge (for example, knowing that certain consoles did better than other consoles).
Sessions As Long Or Short As You Want
Game Dev Tycoon is a particularly good game for smartphones because it is very well-suited to touch controls and you can pause whenever you want. On top of that, you can also play for as long as you want, so it’s great for if you only have five minutes, but it’s also great for if you want to play for hours and hours at a time. You can technically play each file for as long as you want, and if you reach game over (by going bankrupt), you can get up and running from the beginning all over again in no time.
Game Dev Tycoon is just a great all-around simulation game, and it’s a must-play for anyone who loves the gaming industry and the history of gaming. It’s especially well-suited for mobile gaming, and for $4.99 it’s worth every penny. Also, if you have Google Play Pass, you can even play for free! Whether you have to buy it or not, I recommend Game Dev Tycoon to just about any gamer out there.
