Hey smartphone gamers, it’s 2017 and mobile games are as good as they’ve ever been, so let’s take stock of some of the great upcoming mobile game releases for Android. These are just four games that will be coming out soon for Android, and they’re all from well-established franchises. If you’re an Android gamer, one of these upcoming mobile games should pique your interest.
DigimonLinks
Digimon is coming to your smartphone, and not in some card game version or something like that but in the form of what looks like a bona fide Digimon game. It’s hard to tell, but it looks like DigimonLinks will basically be a real digimon game with the story being the only thing that’s missing. Screenshots make it look like you’ll be able to participate in traditional digimon battles, and that you’ll also be able to raise up Digimon and digivolve them in the Digifarm. If it retains any of the feel of real digimon games, DigimonLinks looks like it will be a real winner.

Middle Earth: Shadow of War
Honestly, Middle Earth: Shadow of War looks like it might be just another ripoff of Clash of Clans/Simpsons: Tapped Out/Plunder Pirates/a million other mobile games. Still, the fact that it’s a Lord of the Rings game means it’s noteworthy, and I’m gonna at least give it a try. Even if it is just a unoriginal, typical base-and-battle game, I at least hope that the battles will be good.

South Park: Phone Destroyer
South Park: Phone Destroyer looks interesting. It seems like it might be a mobile version of South Park: The Stick of Truth, with the main difference being that the battles are “real time” instead of turn-based. The art in South Park as well as The Stick of Truth’s graphics could easily be transferred to a smartphone version, so it might just be a full-fledged South Park game for smartphone. It could also be a disappointment, but it’s definitely one worth trying out once it’s released.

Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition
Finally, there’s Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition, which is not on Google Play as an unreleased game yet, but is still worth talking about. It seems that they’re making a straight-up mobile version of the acclaimed Final Fantasy XV, with the same story and much simpler, cartoonish graphics. An Engadget writer tried it and said it’s actually really fun, so this might be something to look out for. Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition is supposedly going to be released in several chapters, which further indicates that this will be a serious mobile experience.
