Bodycheck

Bodycheck: Extreme Sports Action On Your PS Vita

When it comes to video games, action gamers and sports gamers can expect yearly releases catered to them, no matter what their favorite sport is (as long as it’s one of the popular ones). For people who like action and sports, the pickings get a little slimmer. Sure, there is a strong tradition of crazy extreme sports video games, with Rocket League and Lúcioball (the Overwatch minigame) being a few recent offerings. Still, any new action sports game is cause for excitement.

Bodycheck Is A PS Vita Exclusive

When it comes to the game we’re talking about today, though, it’s even more exciting, because this is a PS Vita exclusive. Yes, they are still making PS Vita games, but every new release is a breath of fresh air for Vita gamers who desperately want their favorite console to stay alive (like me). Anyways, I’m here today to tell you about Bodycheck, which I strongly urge anybody with a PS Vita to check out.

Bodycheck Gameplay and Score

Bodycheck is an extreme sports game that is probably most similar to handball, if handball allowed punching, tackling, and magic (yes, magic). Each team has a goal they have to defend, and it’s pretty much a free-for-all after that. You can tackle people and pop the ball out, punch them and do the same, or cast your team’s magic spell (such as shrinking your opponents, freezing them, or shooting a wall of ice at them, to name just a few) to try to slow them down. If you beat up on someone enough, you can even knock them out of the game and gain a mad advantage. Once you have the ball, you can either throw it to your teammates (it doesn’t matter if it hits the ground) or try to shoot it into the goal. This all takes place in just a few minutes of heart-pounding action.

Multiple Game Modes

By the way, what I just described (and provided pictures of) above is only a two-team game. In Bodycheck you can play with up to four teams, with all teams having their own goals and being on their own. This can get even more bonkers, but I prefer two teams, to be honest. Bodycheck also has all sorts of game modes besides single matches, including a League mode which follows your team for three years (assuming you get promoted each year), a scenario mode, and a tournament. Oh, there’s also multiplayer.

Bodycheck League and Scenarios

You can either play locally with your friends if they have Vitas, or you can play online with people all over the world. Whether you’re playing alone or online, the short matches in Bodycheck are perfect for handheld gaming, and you can play an entire League season in a single setting. This is one hell of an extreme sports game, and anyone who loves fast-paced handheld action should give Bodycheck a try.

A Cheap, Great Value PS Vita Game

Bodycheck has been out in Europe for a few months, but just came out in North American about a week ago. Just having a new exclusive for the Vita is exciting enough, but the fact that it’s a great game is an even more welcome development. Bodycheck only costs $8 (which is well worth it for the replayability offered) and only takes up 75 MB on your memory card, so whether you’re low on wallet funds or memory card storage (or both), Bodycheck is still the perfect game for you.

Here’s hoping that we’ll keep getting more Vita exclusives, especially ones that are as unique and addicting as Bodycheck is.
