Let’s get right to it. Yesterday, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez posted something on Snapchat that an Intercept reporter tweeted out and that AOC confirmed in a tweet of her own. What she posted was the latest proof that she is a gamer.
The Snapchat picture shows AOC being excited about making it to Silver IV in League of Legends (before you act unimpressed, remember she is also one of the most hard-working and visible members of Congress right now). She then shouted out another LoL-playing member of Congress, Josh Harder, for being ranked Platinum. Harder responded by suggesting that political fights should be settled on Summoner’s Rift instead of committee hearings. Remember, this was in between tweets about Stephen Miller’s racism and Trump’s impeachment.
I thought it was cool making it to Silver…

But today I found out Rep. @JoshHarder is ranked PLATINUM! 😱 https://t.co/pmW5uoqfHk
This isn’t the first time AOC has outed herself as a gamer, either. A few weeks before winning her seat in the house, she tweeted the following. In the replies to that tweet, she also told people not to get too excited, saying “I’m pretty bad at it so let’s temper our expectations here“.
Current status: dusting off my League account, which hasn’t been touched since the campaign started 😂👾

Bronze V, here we come
Even better, AOC doesn’t try to keep games and politics separate. Earlier this year, she stopped in on H.bomberguy’s 50-hour stream of Donkey Kong 64 for trans rights. You should really check out that link, because one of the videos shows the streamer’s face when he realizes it’s AOC on the phone. It’s pure gold.
Anyways, there shouldn’t be anything surprising about the fact that a 30-year old woman is a gamer. Still, it’s undeniably exciting when that woman is also currently one of the most relevant members of Congress. Which leads me to my next point…
AOC 2028
AOC is currently 30 years old. You need to be 35 years old to be the President of the United States. I believe that she would fulfill that requirement for the 2024 campaign, but if her preferred candidate, Bernie Sanders, wins in 2020, then she could hold off until his two terms were over in 2028. Just imagine, our first Jewish President, who is good as hell but old as hell, giving way to our first Latina President, who is good as hell and young as hell. It would be just great. Gamers rise up. AOC 2028.
