If you love Trailer Park Boys, I got just the game for you. Trailer Park Boys: Greasy Money is an excellent example of a great licensed game, and is definitely one of the best licensed mobile games I’ve run across. All of your favorite characters, schemes, and storylines are in this game, making it feel like you’re rewatching the whole series yet again.
But what do you do?
At its core, Trailer Park Boys: Greasy Money is another clicker game. Think about this, though: Trailer Park Boys, as a show, is perfectly designed for a clicker game like this. Every season starts with them leaving jail, and every season ends with them going to jail, with just a little more wisdom (and in some cases, capital) gained each time. Likewise, in Greasy Money, each “season” starts with the boys leaving jail and rebuilding their trailer park empire from the ground up, and each “season” ends with a boss fight and the boys going to jail and losing all their money (though they get to keep some of the hash, liquor, and friends they made along the way).
Anyways, the clicker aspect of the game involves businesses. All of the boys’ schemes from the show are present in the game, and the businesses you have to build, run, and find customers for include the Sunnyvale gas station, the Kittyland Love Center, Roc Vodka, and many more. Each business makes money in a set amount of time, but you can raise the amount of money each business makes by attracting more customers, renovating the business, or upgrading the characters that help the business (for example, Detroit Velvet Smooth helps Roc Vodka’s profits).
Collecting the money manually can get a little old, though, and it’s not like you’re gonna have the app open 24/7. This is where good old Cory comes in. You can make Cory collect money from businesses for you, even when you’re not playing the game. This way you can grow your empire even while your phone’s in your pocket. As you get further into the seasons, though, the stakes become too high for Cory to handle on his own. You’ll need the characters that help each business to keep an eye on Cory, and the more you upgrade them (and Cory), the more businesses Cory can automatically collect from. In other words, in true Trailer Park Boys fashion, before long you won’t have to be doing much work at all.
How much does it cost?
Like a lot of mobile games (especially clicker/idle games), Trailer Park Boys: Greasy Money is free. That, of course, raises the question of how they deal with in-app purchases. They do it in a pretty clever way that seems pretty fair to the fans. There are three in-game currencies: cash (Canadian dollars, though, so don’t forget the exchange rate), hash coins, and liquor. Hash coins are the “premium” currency that you can buy with real money, but you can also complete offers (like downloading apps) to earn some for free. You can also use hash coins to buy liquor, which comes in handy when you need just a bit more liquor.
You can use the combination of these currencies to buy character cards (used to get new characters or upgrade old ones), renovate businesses, or buy trunks. Trunks are like chests in Trailer Park Boys: Greasy Money, and every four hours you can break into Lahey’s trunk for some free liquor. Beyond that, you can use hash coins to buy other trunks (which can include character cards or all three currencies), or you can just earn them as you play the game. Finally, one more cool thing about the game is you can pay to skip time (either an hour, four hours, or a full day) and immediately earn all the cash you would have earned in that time.
All about the humor
When it comes down to it, though, Trailer Park Boys: Greasy Money is all about the jokes, and it rewards fans of the show at every turn. Just about every joke in the game comes from or is modified from an actual episode, and it really adds to the gameplay if you’re a TPB diehard. If you love Trailer Park Boys, it doesn’t really matter how you feel about clicker/idle games, since this will be one of the best, most funny mobile games you’ve ever downloaded to your smartphone.
